Membership Committee

The primary mission of the Membership Committee is to ensure a friendly welcome to new members and to assist in their orientation and integration into the club. The committee also has a mandate to promote a positive culture within the club for the benefit of all members

The activities of this committee are:

  1. Overseeing the integration of new members into the Club, and thereby improving our ongoing member retention rate.
  2. Coordinating our Club's involvement in the Sailing Centre Open House events.
  3. Marketing the Club to sailing school classes and the general public.

Open House - On one Saturday in April and in June, the Sailing Centre invites the general public to tour the site, have a free ride on a sailboat and treat themselves to a BBQ lunch. Club members are involved in directing traffic, greeting visitors, helping with the BBQ and in answering their questions about the Sailing Centre and the Humber Sailing Club.

Marketing the Club - Committee members and other volunteers make brief presentations regarding the Sailing Club to students taking the Basic Cruising sailing courses. The member generally shows the club video, tells the class about the Club's activities and advantages, and answers any questions raised by the class. The committee's role is to look into other ways to reach out to prospective members in the broader community, and engage in whatever marketing and/or promotion activities it feels may be effective.

The Membership Committee is chaired by Bob Greenhalgh.

Club members are welcome to contact any member of the committee with questions, concerns or suggestions:
